The Play Offs Are Going To Be A Struggle..!

So, the weekend of Glastonbury was a narrow escape as far as Swinton was concerned as the Lions went down to a 6-28 home defeat to third placed Blackpool Panthers.

The route to the play offs looks tricky at least, Swinton lie seventh, in the last play off place, just a point ahead of eighth placed South Wales Scorpions with only five games remaining - Oldham (a) who are second, then York (h) who are fourth, Rochdale (a) who are fifth before sixth placed Workington (a) and finally bottom of the table Gateshead (h) to finish, we probably need 8 points from those fixtures and hope that South Wales don't have an impressive run in.

So this weekend, top of the table Hunslet visited from South Leeds and well, it wasn't pretty, here's the League Weekly's report:

Very Tricky Indeed..!

Oddly, the Manchester Evening News sent down their female reporter who usually covers Accrington Stanley Football Club to write 8 paragraphs on Swinton, Rochdale and Barrow's games in a sport she is completely unfamiliar with! This local media costcutting in action!

Someone kindly gave her my name so she was looking for me, on a day when I showed up late due to transporting some of our spare tents over for storage in my old room at my Mum and Dad's.

I could have been irritated by her by I empathised with her situation, like the one of my old editor Dave Lawrenson, trying to work in a system that is increasingly ludicrous and tightfisted. That and she seemed like a genuinely nice person and made an effort to chat with me, Paul and especially Amy, with whom she made a few comments about how nice the player's bodies were!
