So, last weekend I finally got round to giving my girlfriend Toni her engagement ring, I gave it her on the front row during her favourite band Pulp's first ever gig at the Royal Albert Hall in London! Occasionally, we all have our flashes of romance ;)!
Picking it was the easy part (she's hates gold) and my mate Suggy directed me to the website he picked his and his wife's rings, as they were really nice.
I had contemplated other venues and events or even just going out as a couple in Manchester but that's not that unique enough, we do have nights out together so doing it there didn't feel quite fitting. So, this one off Pulp show kind of fell nicely into my lap! Especially after her claims last summer that she might never see Pulp again! Something I calmly predicted would be wrong.
Anyway, I did show our mate Ed in the restaurant of the Royal Albert Hall when she headed back to camp outside like a maniac four hours before the doors were opened!, At this point, I still hadn't decided on the place and time at the gig to do it; her parents were there (they had seats and weren't standing with us), so I contemplated doing it with them there or not. I also thought it'd be pretty ace to get Jarvis to take a picture of us WITHOUT him in it, then get the ring out, sadly, he never materialised outside! I reckon we'd get a mention in his onstage patter if that stunt came off!
The final decision was to go during the final chorus of this song:
