Ooh, Brighton..!
Jun. 10th, 2014 01:04 amThis weekend's jaunt to Brighton was fantastic but I'm also really tired because of it.
To be accurate, my Swinton programme colleague Riggy is probably more to blame for it, as he insisted that the latest programme be completed by Monday morning. So it was; on the train back with drunken Polish folks gesticulating wildly in the background and till 4AM this morning, on my return..!
Brighton, home of the UK's first Green Party MP, is a land of contrasts, it's clearly quite wealthy but also thankfully gives a shit about the environment, which is all well and good but there's also the homeless, EVERYWHERE! Also, there were skinheads in Town for this:

mix in with stag and hen parties and the huge numbers of same-sex couples from this incredibly liberal city and you've got a really odd mix. Especially as we went to a Sonic Boom Six gig in a club that was clearly some kind of poledancing place on other nights!
That wasn't (all) what we were there for though, it was a chance for me and Toni to spend some time together and for us both to explore this new city. Considering that neither of us are massive shoppers, we wandered round a ton of shops, Toni finally getting her desired festival waterproof coat on the Sunday while I picked up the jean shorts in the first charity shop! Bloke shopping gets results!
Too many results, as I bought a shirt with penguins, parrots and watermelons on it. It really doesn't look as bad as it sounds:

We also ate a lot of FISH! Toni was freaked out a bit by eating a whole fish (whitebait) in one gulp and I was attacked elsewhere by a cheeky seagull trying to pilfer my cod! But overall, it was just ace to see lots of her and be tourists for once! She's back tomorrow for Download, huge amounts of yay!
