To the newbies (well those of you who have added me since September last year), I work freelance as a Rugby League journalist on my local team, Swinton Lions. This is my favourite sports team in the world and I have watched them since I was 6! To have the honour of reporting on them is a massive honour (and a lot of fun! Except when hungover from Saturday night!)

So, I will post all the reports I do for them on here, I will put them behind LJ cuts (as they are lengthy and you probably don't want to read them every week) but this is writing I do for me, so if you do give it a glance, thank you!

Here's the opening 'friendly' of the season, as Riggy (the other Swinton reporter) was away, I covered the game for both British national rugby league papers. Swinton were relegated in 2014 into League 1 (two divisions below the top level) from The Championship and faced that division's play off final losers, Oldham. The Roughyeds (as they are nicknamed) have missed out on promotion in the play off final five years running!) Here's what League Weekly got:
