On Mornings Like These..!
Feb. 9th, 2016 01:01 amThis four day weekend has had a bit of everything and lots of great things!
Thursday night me and Paul went to Atherton Beer Festival, Danny had to drop out as he had a runny bottom! The usual high amount of real ale was drunk, the raspberry one and the Japanese lager stood out for me. It was good to spend time with Paul, as he's obviously got less time to piss about, being a new Dad and everything!
After sleeping off the hangover (and stinking out the flat!) on Friday morning, I planned to do some of the 2,000 word essay that is due in later today. I got some life admin sorted too, which was nice before we packed up and headed to Sheffield to see our old housemate Emma and her fella Jim. They are great company to be with and it was nice to have time to eat chilli, go to a lovely pub and then play Simpsons Scene it and Cards Against Humanity till silly o clock in the morning!
Saturday was a nice lie in till Noon then heading to Town for breakfast at 2PM in the fantastic Rutland Arms, which has a great jukebox, does amazing food and is plastered in cats!
After a couple of beers, we eventually got back (with some victorious Wigan Athletic fans in tow!) around 6PM on Saturday, as Manchester entered the arms of Storm Imogen, that it hasn't been released from since!
A much needed night in with Toni followed, we also watched the Celebrity Big Brother Final and realised that we had no great feeling over who won! Not a vintage series, in my eyes anyway.
I got up early on Sunday morning and wrote the first half of the essay before heading to Swinton to see them narrowly lose to Dewsbury in their opening league match at Salford's stadium. Due to planning permission, this 'away home' match may become a regular occurrence, balls.
After doing the match report, me, Toni and Stevo went to watch the Superbowl round my Dad's. Stevo being baffled by my Mum and Dad's inability to just cook food in the oven without being anal about timings, Toni horrified by my Dad's foul farts! My Dad, unfortunately, the more he retreats from society seems to be less and less bothered by others' feelings at how he behaves but it was still a great night!
Anyway, Denver were deserved Champs and it was a decent game to round off the season. Respect due to Peyton Manning for not retiring at the Superbowl and hence his teammates get their time to bask in glory for winning it. Me and Stevo stayed up to laugh at Dogg the Bounty Hunter's new show and then a film that Rik Mayall would have regretted (if he was still alive, that is.)
Having slept off much of the hangover, we drove to the cinema for the traditional post-Superbowl film, this year - Goosebumps - which was oddly like Jumanji and MUCH better than we imagined.
A nice couple of hours sleep, then completing the essay, which proved irritating, as there were incorrect things in the description and stuff missing from the recommended reading, gah!
As a result, I've only just read it through and read up to February 4th on LJ, so will catch up on Wednesday probably... as I'm off to Suede with Toni and a few mates after Counselling tomorrow (Tuesday night!) Sleep when you're dead and all that!
It was another reminder that me and Toni have such wonderful friends who are so generous with their time and lives, while being such fun to be with, even though we don't live in each others' pockets anymore, I feel very lucky indeed!
