Living In A Building Site..!
Jan. 9th, 2017 01:41 amToday marks a day short of a calendar month, since we moved into the new house on 10th December. Not through our own fault or choosing, we've not yet moved in and unpacked fully. We were told that the heating was fully functional, in fact, one radiator works and the twisted and backwards as Deliverance heating set up that the former owners have concocted, means that we are going to pay to have it ripped out in full over the next 3 days! Great!
We've had no heating over Christmas (apart from in one room), despite this, I'm glad that me and Toni can function through adversity. It's been a genuinely great Christmas, it's not been full of disputes and ire over our situation, we've got on with it admirably (I think!), had fun, spent the festive period together, ate and drank plenty (and watched lots of films and darts!)
This past few days for example, we've taken down the decorations then stuck them in the attic, put up some decorative lights and recyled lots, finished constructing a wardrobe and a bathroom cabinet (before our mate Pollitt kindly attached it to a wall); generally managed to put some stuff from the move in away. All the time, knowing that today we've had to rip up the laminate flooring and the place will appear further away from being sorted than before, particularly when the workmen come in tomorrow.
It's kind of draining but we've come to accept that we have to put in the toil, see little reward but know that soon, it will look wonderful. I am genuinely excited about what it will look like, having a home and the ability to make it feel like 'home' is such a gift, admittedly it has its' drawbacks but I'd rather be doing this than be trapped in renting like so many others:

And for that I am truly thankful.
But for all the financial pain, inconvience and drudgery that they have imposed on us with their pennypinching nonsense, the seller's first name is Kok! Yes, Kok! There is a karma in there somewhere and he's probably had a hard life as a result. There is some kind of justice in the universe (sometimes.)
