I was thinking today as I ordered a replacement back for my six month old mobile phone due to the current one's back piece being unable to stay in place; that we are being royally screwed.

The technology that we pay so much for is deliberately engineered so that it falls apart after a couple of years, three at most. Nokia phones used to be sturdy, reliable things, now they are solid as a Totem Pole made out of excrement, in a rain storm.

Yet we accept it, like morons, as they have tons of new features.

If you go to a museum now, they'll show you things made during the war/pre-1900s that can still be used, if you go to a museum in 2150, they'll show you a rusted shell of a Nokia with a cracked screen and buttons with worn away numbers.

The Egyptians can build monuments that last thousands of years and can even survive our creation of acid rain, we can build something that lasts half a decade. That's progress.
