Driving Tomfoolery..!
Mar. 9th, 2013 01:50 amI know that I took ten attempts to pass my driving test but I think the stigma of that my Dad will probably never let go, we had a brief phone conversation after Toni went to bed tonight, regarding driving to Halifax (approximately 50 miles away) to watch Swinton play on Sunday afternoon.
In West Yorkshire, they are forecast snow (so it's unlikely to go ahead, being completely honest) but as my Dad has decided to avoid travelling everywhere and anywhere, at all costs, since last year, he's thinking of dropping out and will let me know on Sunday morning. I respond by saying that I'll borrow the car and drive myself if need be (since I'm on the insurance and am a legal driver and everything!)
The tone of his voice completely changed and he said "we'll discuss it on Sunday..!"
I've driven to Gateshead (roughly 150 miles), to Leigh also in the snow and most recently, Bristol to pick up the cats (350 miles overall), this is the type of nonsense that makes me want to get a car (even though it would be a huge financial waste as we don't need one, just use of one every now and then) as both are jobs and Manchester are easy to get to via bus.
Alternatively, he could have decided that scratches he noticed (that were incurred driving at 5mph in a collision with their house's gatepost on Superbowl night!) is some massive accident I am covering up... It's not a huge accident but is somewhat of a mild deceit! Ho hum!
One things for certain though, I'm MUCH less of a liability on the roads than my Mum, good God! She's 69 and absolutely terrified behind the wheel!
