Flying By, Chucking Words As I Go..!
Jun. 7th, 2016 02:25 amSo, I don't go too long without posting, I've set myself a deadline of writing this post in ten minutes or less, GOOOOO!
The past two weeks has truly shot by, the weekend before last, I spent largely in Blackpool watching Swinton. If you're unfamiliar (i.e. not British!) Blackpool is a small town in the North West of the UK that hides the genuine poverty in it by putting on a veneer of being the town to go to experience family resort good times. The Pleasure Beach, Waxworks, Sandcastle and Aquarium are all lovely but venture into a pubs and you'll see a rash of hen/stag parties. I think that 'rash' is the official plural for those events if they are congregated in one place, if not, it should be! Anyway, Blackpool, it's a weird conflicting type of place.
Me and Stevo hung out with our mate Towns, Spelly and Mackenzie, taking in 7 games in 2 days and then hurtling towards the Station as soon as the rugby concluded, so aforementioned stag/hens didn't bottle us! Swinton won 25-24 after being 20-0 down at half time versus Oldham, it was glorious! My Mum celebrated her 73rd birthday at the Swinton game on the Sunday, not sure how much she enjoyed it but her and my Dad chose to sit in a separate stand from most of our supporters! Hmmmmm. As our families couldn't be much more different, my Mother-in-Law only turned 50 today!
By contrast, this weekend I barely left the flat, me and Toni got some time together (and when I wasn't befriending my neighbour's kid by playing with water guns in baking Sun with him) it was nice to spend some chilled out time together.
We didn't do that much, we did see the wonderful 'Twisted Nerve', a bizarre 1960's film, where the central character is an outright sociopath and the rest of the cast pepper their lines with casual racism towards the only Indian character in it; considering it was filmed 48 years ago, it stands up wonderfully to time, so please do check it out!
In positive news, in my head, I've chosen Toni's birthday presents, the Summer is looking to be full of fun stuff although I need to make sure I don't leave all remaining College work to the last minute, as I've done during this half term in fact! Doh! Ah well!
I have some time off around this weekend however Download is sadly looking unlikely, for various reasons but AC/DC on Thursday night in Manchester and a very busy weekend will hopefully make up for that!
P.S. Close to catching up with your entries but didn't manage the 10 minute deadline for this entry! Right, brush teeth then bed, night all!
