As usual with a Manchester bank holiday, the weather flattered to deceive, leaving the supermarkets with mountains of charcoal, beach chairs and beefburgers to pack away till the next one!

Friday was Paul's birthday, it was his last one before he becomes a Daddy, so it may be the last one where he is allowed to leave the house till his 40th, ha!

Me and Toni met in Town after work and headed to the Mexican restaurant near the Great Northern, which also stocked a wide array of cocktails. I'd never seen a strawberry and tequila one before, what it lacked for in flavour, it made up for in strength! As I didn't sleep particularly well, it got me on the road to merry.

It also brought up a decent argument, which is better? Strawberry or watermelon? This IS important!

The night was really good, me and Toni managed to make Kerry not talk about her impending baby for one conversation about the upcoming General Election with Suze! I also chatted about the boxing with Mari and she turned my comment that 'boxing is a great avenue for many fighters to escape poor backgrounds, where they may end up embroiled in crime into implying that all blacks in the ghetto are potential rapists, which IS DEFINITELY NOT what I said!

Me and Toni walked home, which given my op' felt like a great idea at the time but not so good the next day!

On Saturday, we immersed ourselves in the snooker, becoming supporters of Stuart Bingham, as he claimed an underdog victory: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/snooker/32584278
and I did some life admin, after giving a meter reading to the Electricity company, I claimed a £500 refund, wooop!

Sunday and Monday saw more snooker, relaxing and reading, Vausey came round to watch some it and stayed over into Monday morning and Toni did a college essay on Sunday afternoon.

The book I've been reading - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Strange-Angel-Otherworldly-Scientist-Whiteside/dp/0156031795 has been fantastic and...

This is likely to be the last week of being off sick, depending on a meeting on Wednesday and as much as I am looking forward to working again, I will miss all the time off too, I can't deny!

Friday 1st of May also marked the date that I finished taking the painkillers, so now I'm REALLY seeing how I'm feel...

This whole episode has made me appreciate my mobility so much more, even though the aftereffects of being cut open have certainly not been as bad as I thought they would be.

If there are any single ladies, looking for a chance of meeting a man reading this, you should go along to the Snooker World Championship, it's one of the biggest sausagefests I've ever seen!

I digress... Even though I'm still off, I've been given plenty of chances to test my leg out today, having to drive 3 different places, to [livejournal.com profile] thelma_viaduct's work, as she left her phone at home today, to get some chicken and chips for lunch (as she generously bought it for delivering her third arm, I mean mobile phone!) and then to drop off some food at the Food Bank. We decided to support them as a staggering 400,000 people have to use them in Britain since the Tories have come in (thanks, David Cameron!) Finding the place was a proper ballache but it was definitely worth it, as they had to appeal on Facebook for more donaters as they had literally nothing left to give.

It looks like my first day back in work will be on General Election day after 2 months off, I'm working at a polling station, which is very exciting!

The Polling Inspector called me today to confirm I was ok but I'm supposed to speak to someone about my return to work, but they've not been back in touch. My leg feels good on most days and I've done some working and driving with little in the way of repercussions.

Just as the phone call ended, Blue decided to start shrieking as she was throwing up a hairball, she sounds like the noise a Catherine Wheel makes, if it were alive and in pain, while it explodes!

She also spent the rest of the day demanding attention and chasing other cats from the garden, here's a picture of 'Her Majesty':

Toni also spontaneously bought £168 of catfood for her today, because buying in bulk really pays with catfood! It does however reduce the chances of saving more than I already have this month but ain't she adorable?!

Oh and to continue the theme of the last post, I will never look at Angela Lansbury the same way again, thanks Found Footage Fest!:
